Double eccentric butterfly valve is further improved on the basis of single eccentric butterfly valve, and it is also the most widely used. Its structure is characterized by the axis of the valve stem being off from both the center of the butterfly plate and the center of the body. The effect of double eccentricity makes the butterfly plate quickly detach from the valve seat after the valve is opened, which greatly eliminates the unnecessary excessive extrusion and scraping between the butterfly plate and the valve seat, reduces the opening resistance, reduces wear, and improves the life of the valve seat. The substantial reduction of scraping also makes it possible to use metal seats for double eccentric butterfly valves, which improves the application of butterfly valves in high temperature fields. However, because the sealing principle is a position sealing structure, that is, the sealing surface of the butterfly plate and the valve seat are in line contact, and the sealing effect is produced by the elastic deformation caused by the butterfly plate squeezing the valve seat, so the requirements for the closing position are very high (especially for metal seats), and the pressure-bearing capacity is low, which is why traditionally people think that butterfly valves are not resistant to high pressure and have a large leakage volume.
